Alfalfa meal labeled for sale as a soil additive is pretty expensive about $3 a lb U.S.
However the exact same product labeled as horse feed is about $22 for a 50lb bag. (Make sure you get a brand that is organic and doesn't have additives)
Kelp meal labeled for sale as a gardening product is about the same $3 or $4 a lb but kelp meal labeled as livestock feed is about $60 for a 50lb bag and while your at the feed store you might as well pick up your bail of hay and maybe even look for a grain to malt and turn into all natural enzymatic tea.
